Margaret Mahy was born on March 21, 1936 in Whakatane, New Zealand. She was a writer and actress, known for The Haunting of Barney Palmer (1987), Maddigan's Quest (2006) and The Great White Man-Eating Shark (1992). She died on July 23, 2012 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
