Bret Miller was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. He graduated from Rochester High School in 2009 and Michigan State University in 2013, where he majored in Media Arts and Technology with a Specialization in Fiction Film. Throughout school, he wrote around half a dozen feature scripts and a dozen short scripts.
