Gary Hauger was born in Bangor, Maine, USA to Mary and Geoffrey Hauger, neither of which were involved with television or film in anyway. He began performing in school plays at the age of five and auditioned for his first feature film Graveyard Shift (1990) at the age of seventeen because he and some friends heard about the open call on the radio.
