Lance Karasti was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. He grew making up making short films from a young age. After high school he moved out to Hollywood, California where attended film school and made his thesis about Martin Scorsese: "Filmmaker." Karasti moved back to his hometown to make his debut feature film "Cult."
