Jose Joaquin Noriega-Rios was born on March 14, 1989, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is the youngest of five siblings, with two older sisters, and two older brothers. At the age of seven, he modeled for Avon's Back To School print campaign in Puerto Rico.
