Rachel Myskiv was born in Adelaide South Australia. Her mother has French and German ancestry and her father was from a Ukrainian family. Self-described as a "tom boy" as a kid, Rachel left home at 19 and for the next 5 years worked as a runway model in Germany and New Zealand.
