Su Hananel developed her interest in acting at a very young age, watching old TV shows, such as I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched and I love Lucy. Her father is a police officer and her mother is a secretary. She has a younger brother, Menahem, who attended Business School and works at a mining company. Both attended private Catholic schools.
