In 1998, he directed his debut feature film, Die 3 Posträuber. He made his breakthrough in 2006 with In 3 Tagen bist du tot. His comedy The Unintentional Kidnapping of Elfriede Ott (The Unintentional Kidnapping of Elfriede Ott) won the 2011 Austrian Film Award. In 2012, he received an Emmy for Das Wunder von Kärnten (A Day for a Miracle), and in 2013, the Austrian Film Award for Das finstere Tal (The Dark Valley). He then directed the first season of the series Das Boot. In England, he developed the series adaptation of the “Alex Rider” novels for teenagers.
