Richard Warren，Marold Glaspey was the son of Wallace Henry and Alice Lorinda (DeBrie) Glaspey and brother to Mrs. Betty Letts and Mrs. Leta Mae Seaton, both of the Iowa City area. "Timer" grew up in Hills, Johnson County, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1941 with a degree in speech and drama.
