Andrea Maria Dusl was born in Vienna, Austria in 1961. She is the daughter of Erwin H. Dusl, an Austrian architect and Monica Dusl-Jüllig a native Swede from a sea-faring family. She attended the Master Class in Stage Design at the Vienna Fine Arts Academy, acquiring her Magistra Artium degree in 1985.
