Sharon MacMillan grew up in Tipton, California on a farm in California's San Joaquin Valley. She later moved to Los Angeles where she began her theatrical and television career. In 1989, she married her high school sweetheart and Los Angeles actor James Knudsen. They divorced in 2001, and Sharon moved to the east coast.
