Erica Sherwood was born on June 30, 1986, in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is the middle child of Jamie Sherwood, a ROV Technician, and Darlene Sherwood, a high school drama teacher. She left St. Catharines for Toronto, Ontario, when she graduated high school to pursue her filmmaking career at Humber College.
