Kristel Elling was born in Tartu, Estonia in 20 August, 1979. She is the daughter of an opera singer Kai Elling who worked at the prestigious opera theater, Theatre Vanemuine for nearly twenty years. Kristel's first appearance was on her mother's lap (at eleven months old), on one of the biggest stages in Estonia, the Theatre Vanemuine.
