Conceived by Asha Parekh for Star Plus, Kora Kagaz tackled a bold subject: a young woman Pooja (Renuka Shahane) from a conservative family is abandoned by her husband on her wedding night, for another woman. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, Pooja tried to put her life back together, with the help of her brother-in-law, played by cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola. They fall in love with each other, but the husband returns, ready to take Pooja back. Her tribulations, dilemmas, choice she makes form the crux of the show
