In February 1976 it is known that a high Dutch government official has accepted a bribe from plane manufacturer Lockheed. It soon becomes clear that the government official is the husband of Queen Juliana: Prince Bernhard. The country is in turmoil when it appears that Prince Bernhard has actually accepted a bribe. Juliana is in danger of resigning. The monarchy staggers. When senior soldiers get involved in the matter out of solidarity with the Prince and the people ask for openness, Prime Minister Den Uyl can not postpone his decision. Does he choose to preserve the monarchy or not?
