简介

The sound of the screeching strings during the shower scene of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” (1960) is arguably one of the most memorable pieces of film music ever written. Hitchcock said part of the success of this film was due to this music. Bernard Herrmann was the genius behind this film score. With a career spanning from 1934 to 1975, Herrmann composed music for the mediums of radio, film and television, with other acclaimed works including: "Citizen Kane" (1941), "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951), "The Twilight Zone" (1959-63), "Fahrenheit 451" (1966) and "Taxi Driver" (1975), among many others. “Lives of Bernard Herrmann” will explore the composer's groundbreaking works and his tumultuous personal life. Through new interviews with his family and collaborators, along with film industry professionals, audiences will learn why Bernard Herrmann's work still resonates.
