In his documentary feature debut, filmmaker Mauro Colombo immerses himself in the Darién Gap, a dense and mysterious jungle that divides Panama and Colombia. At the dangerous border between these two countries, guerrillas, immigrants, indigenous people, farmers, drug traffickers, local police, and wild animals cross paths. Colombo approaches the jungle and its characters from an anthropological perspective. He focuses on finding meaning in this no man’s land, as a metaphor for the wildness within us. Tierra adentro is an urgent, political film, recording the deforestation of this area, which affects not only the people living there, but also the whole world. It transports the spectator to the heart of the conflict and allows us to experience the intensity of the jungle itself. An invitation to enter an unknown world and to find a way to relate to it.
