Every year, between 6,000 and 12,000 women and children are sold. The transactions picked up speed after the earthquake in April 2015 that devastated the country, killed almost 9,000 people and left more than 22,000 injured. For many people in Nepal, selling their family members is the only way to survive… The director, known for his war documentaries from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Africa, gives a voice to the victims and to people who decide to tell the world about this horrifying form of slavery in the 21st century.
