John and Jim are sons of Walter Hymens and their love for the bright lights and correct wearing apparel led them to plaguing their father for his simple life. "Be a sport and come to the dance," they tell him, but the middle-aged widower would only smile and bid them have a good time. However, it is destined that a handsome widow's smile is to bring the old man "back to life," but when the pretty Mrs. Valeria becomes the tenant of an adjoining house the up-to-the-minute sons do not take their Daddy into consideration as other than a "dead one." With only a slight acquaintance the two boys vie with each other for a smile or a look from the alluring widow. While the boys are spending the wee hours of the night under the halo of the bright lights and Daddy has donned his pajamas and tucked himself in bed, from the house next door the screams of a woman pierce the stillness of the quiet suburban neighborhood.
