A dull and slow moving short film that offers almost nothing to the viewer, 9 June 2007 Author: bob the moo from Birmingham, UK Jack lives along, divorced from his wife Aileen. His only passion is dead musician Delroy who he worships and aspires to visit his former home in Glory Acres on the date where he believe his idol will reappear. He desperately wants to believe that he is the reincarnation of Jimbo – Delroy's still-born brother. One of the occasionally good but mostly so-so short films from Chanticleer, I approached this short film with caution and tried not to take any notice of the fact that some of the cast have gone on to more fame than this gave them. The plot is a weird one (I assume that to use Elvis' image you must pay a fee – hence the creation of "Delroy") but it is pretty obvious and also quite slow to deliver very little over 30 minutes. I wasn't held or interested in the plot at all after the first five or ten minutes and it did nothing to pull me into it. The performances are not great. The guy playing Jack was OK but doesn't have a real person within him, however at least he wasn't as annoying as the "angel" character who had a terrible case of the hams about her. For posterity it is worth mentioning a brief appearance by Viggo Mortensen as El, sorry, Delroy; suffice to say I doubt that this title is still on his CV when he goes for interviews now. Lang directs within a very limited budget and he cannot prevent it showing – particularly once the action moves outside of Jack's flat into heaven. A pretty pointless and dull short film that doesn't really do anything but takes a long time to not do it.
