Two filmmakers, Naomi Kawase and Isaki Lacuesta, embark on a cinematic correspondence to bridge the geographical distance between Nara (Japan) and Barcelona. Instead of words, they exchange filmed recordings as a way to get to know one another. These «letters in pictures» reveal their personal lives (where they live, who their friends are) while reflecting their respective film aesthetics. With In Between Days this tandem approach results in an original film – navigating two languages, two places, two temporalities –, a journey into a relationship developing between two individuals who see themselves reflected through each other’s creative process. Part of a project initiated by the Centre de Cultura Contemporània in Barcelona, In Between Days is the second in a series that began with Albert Serra and Lisandro Alonso (Argentina).
