Mongolia. A place of many stories. Vast and endless steppes, mountains and deserts. Chinggis Khaan, symbol for The Land of the Blue Sky. But what exactly is the true face behind this least populated country of the world? As an audio and visual experience this film brings you in the middle of a journey through Chandmani Sum, a small village in West Mongolia. Through the eyes of an anonymous person we witness an experimental view on the real life of Mongolian countryside. ------------------------------------ Chandmani is located in a far west province called Khovd. Typicial for West Mongolian provinces like Khovd are the many high mountains, empty steppes and the extreme climate. In the winter season it can freeze as far as -40°C. In summer season, however, it can be as hot as 40°C. Chandmani is mostly known for it's many throat singers. Some of the best known throat singers were born in this small village - and even today the village lives up to it's name and many children continue to dream about a successful throat singing career. In this experimental film I have tried to visualize, and even audiolize, my personal feelings about certain subjects I came across while staying many months in this village. Although there is some Dutch language used as a voice over, there are no subtitles needed, as these words don't interact with the overall story. This is a non-narrative film.
