Josef Soused, a prison guard, moves in a village. A married couple lives in the house across the street: the husband is a jobless hypochondriac. His wife, Jana, is a saleswoman and partner in a local minimarket. Milan, a hustler in charge with prostitution stops there to buy cigarettes. The lives of these people and their children start changing.
