K.aF.ka Fragment offers a look into Kafka's brilliant but tortured mind as it was reflected in his correspondence with Bauer; Lars Rudolph plays the troubled Kafka, while Ursula Ofner plays his sometimes combative confidante and would-be bride. While produced and financed by German and Austrian concerns, K.aF.ka Fragment was shot in English; the film was screened in competition at the 2001 Rotterdam Film Festival.
