In her research Marianne discovers that women have for a long time been medically treated unfairly. Her medical colleagues turn their backs to her, one after the other, while at the same time her private life also is haltering. The pressure for her increases. Another colleague Elisabeth falls slowly for Henrik, a former patient of hers, inspite of that he hasn' t much time left due to his heart condition.
