Henri Des Prunelles loves his wife, Cyprienne, but unintentionally he neglects her for experiments in his laboratory. Cyprienne, hungry for excitement and adventure, accepts the love of her cousin. Count Adhemar, and meets him clandestinely. Des Prunelles becomes suspicious.
