简介

Originally commissioned for the Ridge production of Hugh Esten's "Jungle Movie," FOOTPRINTS compares the evolution of the motion picture to the evolution of twentieth century man. Jim Farmers' densely textured sound design weaves Duke Ellington's "Caravan" with excerpts from "Nature" and "The Mole People." The live performance was directed for the stage by Bob McGrath at One Dream, NYC, February, 1992. "FOOTPRINTS is an impressionistic fusion of film history and poetic vision. Bill Morrison achieves a lyrical examination of the process of perception and the development of motion pictures. Alternatively humorous and edge, Morrison's rhythmic editing gives the film a visual pulse, like a heartbeat." - Jan-Christopher Horak, Curator, Montage '93 Int'l Film Festival "A knock-out... startlingly original... One of his most virtuosic, FOOTPRINTS is a six-minute riff on technology and evolution that combines the 20th Century Fox logo, Muybridge, ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, running animals and a Deren-inspired walk in the sand." - Manohla Dargis, Village Voice Exhibition and Award: Hugo Award Winner, Chicago Film Festival 1992; Grand Prize Winner, Bucks' County Film Festival 1992; Jurors' Choice (Top Honor), Black Maria Film Festival 1992; Invitation, London Film Festival 1992, Montage Int'l; Permanent Collection, Museum of Modern Art
