200 urban farmers break onto the last piece of farmland in the San Francisco East Bay. Calling themselves 'Occupy the Farm' they plant two acres of vegetables and pitch a tent village to prevent the land from being developed. Owned by the University of California, this agricultural research station was slated to become a shopping mall and condos. The Occupation forces a dilemma: Will this publicly owned land become a real estate development? Will it continue to grow inedible corn for genetic research used to create patents for private corporations? Or will it become a center to teach and research sustainable urban agriculture? After three weeks, riot police evict the farmers, but the crops survive, and the Occupation changes the fate of the land.
