The film does not show a continuous story, but a mosaic of ideas and fancies, tried out in modern psychiatry without the pretence of bringing easy and ready made solutions. Through a number of processes (awakening consciousness, recognition, break through) within certain situations (the building, the system, nature) the broken and messy relationships between parents and child, authority and subordinate, analyst and patient, are restored and clarified. Founded in 1970, Het Werktheater is a real actor's group; a co-operative society without a director in which each of its members has an equal chance to act and add a new experience to performance.
