简介

ASPHALT (directed by Harald Röbbeling) is an important piece in the history of Austrian movies. It is considered the first experiment in new realism in Austria and an important inspiration to WIENERINNEN by Kurt Steinwendner from 1952. It is filmed without conventional script, away from studios, with amateurs as well as with professionals. It depicts the lives of five adolescents based on files of police and welfare: three lightheaded girls become delinquent, one boy turns out a thief, another one a murderer. Johanna Matz is one of the "fallen" girls who after a disappointment in a bar decides to sell her body. The movie was considered lost until a print from the French movie archive (Centre National de la Cinématographie) was recovered and restored. Therefore French subtitles are hardcoded.
