A movie company arrives in Várzea dos Amarelos, a small town which, thanks to wide-spread emigration, only has sixty inhabitants. The plan is to film one of the area's traditional ceremonies. The director's mother, Elvira Marques, in a long interview, remembers her life and daily tribulations, on the eve of the important political and social transformations of the 25th of April. Reality and fantasy quickly become confused.
