The dramatization of the Art Nouveau short story Frána Šrámek Oklamal tells the story of a small-town beauty (Blanka Bohdanová), who replaced a number of lovers from local crew officers. It is through the city that the news flashes that Lieutenant Bártl (Vít Olmer) shot himself out of unhappy love. At first, Erna receives the message cynically because he alone resisted it. But then she starts to pretend that her relationship with him and perhaps his to her was the deepest of all flirts, and she stylizes herself in the role of a widow… The 1965 film about the dilemma between illusion and real life, between desire and reality, was awarded the Golden Nymph at the Monte Carlo festival. Directed by Václav Krška, whose work represents a distinctive, lyrically tuned stream of Czech filmmaking. Television works have an irreplaceable place in it and excel in urgent intimacy.
