Juvenile delinquency is regularly denounced as an evil recent and growing. Yet a comparison with the situation experienced by France in the early twentieth century offers striking similarities. This is the first appearance of youth gangs called "Apache" that obsesses opinion and made the front page of every newspaper until 1914.
