Paulo Paulista's feature-length film debut intertwines seven conversational set pieces that are independent of each other while sharing one or two characters. Shot mostly in long takes as two-handers, the characters include a woman who still resents her mother long after her death, her architect boyfriend who is confused by her strange behavior, a resentful prostitute and a gay artist who may be the father of a child from a prior relationship with best friend Francisca. Through these conversations, "Kaleidoscope" tackles a dense tapestry of themes and ideas including friendship, sexuality, class resentment and reconciliation.
