Zek Washington, a boxer bound for greatness, abruptly turns his back on his career to work with disadvantaged youths. One of those who need his help the most is family screw-up Uncle JC, he is finally on the verge of getting his semi-autobiographical movie made, all he needs is for Zek to sign on for one exhibition fight. Neither Zek nor JC bother to read the long contract, and now Zek is not only deeply in debt to a mobster, but also obligated to win three more fights, before taking a dive at the championship match in Las Vegas. To ensure Zek's continued cooperation, they kidnap Zek's girlfriend, promising to release her only if Zek takes a dive in the ninth round. Zek's mother discovers he is in debt, she mortgages her house, and bets everything on Zek to win. If Zek wins, his girlfriend dies. If he takes the dive, his mother loses her house and her life. Either way, Zek owes his soul to a man who doesn't appear to have one.
