NOLA CUBA follows New Orleans' famed Preservation Jazz Hall Band as they retrace their jazz roots back to the shores of Cuba. Son, Bamboula, Tumba Francesa, Habanera... Cuban musical genres and traditions... Each one part of the musical DNA that led to the formation of New Orleans' Jazz tradition. Filmed over the course of the International Jazz Festival Of Cuba, NOLA CUBA, chronicles the band's quest to seek out these musical traditions and the iconic masters that play them. Follow along as the Preservation Hall Band members reconnect to the beats and rhythms that paved the way for the music ingrained in them since childhood. Each of the Preservation Hall Band members begin to uncover the connections between their own music and that of their Cuban counterparts, gaining personal insight as they traverse the island of Cuba in search of the music that is part of their identities.
