The story of Philo Taylor Farnsworth is that of the American Dream. Born in a log cabin and largely self-educated, Farnsworth devoured every scientific and technical book he could find. By age 14 he had figured out how electronic television could work and shortly after his 21st birthday he had fashioned a working model. Success and wealth seemed inevitable; however, deceptions, lawsuits and heartaches prevented Farnsworth from achieving his goal. Today more than a century after his birth the contributions of Philo T. Farnsworth have been acknowledged as he is now accepted as "The Father of Television" and one of America's great inventors.
