Sheela lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her widower dad, Ghanshyamdas. One day she interviews a candidate named Mahesh for the position of an Engineer. Despite of his pretending to be wealthy, he does manage to impress her and both fall in love with each other. Ghanshyamdas approves of this marriage. Then one day Sheela and her dad are notified by the Police that Mahesh has been arrested and is being held in a cell for allegedly possessing a briefcase containing 40 Lakh Rupees. Sheela rushes over to the Police Station to provide for bail - only to find out that Mahesh has managed to escape. She must now find out how Mahesh came to be in possession of so much cash, why he escaped - amidst life-threatening danger and the involvement of a large number of people who are not who they claim to be.
