Movie takes look at ancient time when hero Uldis arrives as a suitor for landlady`s daughter Zane. Baiba is a servant at home and during stormy night Uldis meets Baiba. He immediately desires her, but gets rejected. Uldis, angry about the failure to get what he wants, continues to persuade Zanes mother to agree to marriage. However, with time Baiba`s and Uldis emotions begin to take precedence over strict customs. Filmed by famous Latvian poet`s Rainis play motives.
