Fernando Galán is a rich widowed man with a handsome son, Eduardo. Several times he has got engaged to a younger woman, but marriage fails as soon as they meet Eduardo. This time both father and son will plan a different strategy : Eduardo pretends he is traveling abroad so his father will have freedom; but the father, in turn, gets engaged to the girl he expects to be his daughter-in-law.
