Giovanni peddles useless pens in the streets of Rome with his sidekick Francesco. He has, however, a daughter who studies in a college and thinks he is a rich industrialist. The girl falls in love with a rich boy and when her father tells her the truth about their financial situation she leaves her fiancee and refuses food. Luckily the boy`s parents give their assent to the marriage all the same.
