From site The development of the New Italian Cinema from the 1930s onwards was made possible in part because underlying its progress existed an underground of directors and craftsmen who embraced ‘low practices’ in their efforts to invent the first true Italian genre cinema. Celebrating the recent rediscovery and restoration of forgotten and overlooked treasures from this significant undercurrent within Italian cinema, this film programme surveys the thrilling, hard-hitting work of Fernando Di Leo, Sergio Martino, Nino Pagot, Lucio Fulci, Massimo Dallamano and Mario Bava.
